today's meditation 30.01.19

Thank you to everyone who came to the first of many mid-week meditations today. It was wonderful to see the room full of people with the same purpose: to relax, re-balance and re-focus :)

The meditation I chose today can be found on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ldwRuRExuYc

And I am also embedding it here:

Wondering about coming next Wednesday but not sure? Here is a picture of the room set-up to entice you, this was complete with soothing music, which of course you have to come to experience ;)

How does it work?

We listen to online meditations for about 15 – 30 minutes each Wednesday, gathering at 12:00 for a 12:05 start in SR12, Life Sciences building third floor. I will be sourcing the material, and also very happy to take suggestions for what to listen to next :)

If you are coming along, you may want to bring a rug to keep warm or a pillow to help you sit comfortably (either on a chair or the floor, whichever you prefer). If you don’t have these, I have spares, as you can see in the photo!

Do I need to book a place?

I have set up eventbrite bookings for each Wednesday (https://mwmeditation.eventbrite.com). This is because there is a limited space in the room (about 20 people at a stretch)…. and also because it makes me very happy to see people booking on ;) . Having said that, dropping in without a booking is fine if there is space, I will always try to squeeze you in.

Take care

Fabia

how mid-week meditation works

I am starting to hear chatter about mid-week meditation in the corridors :) Here is a little more about it...

This is a weekly opportunity for staff and PhDs to take some time-out to meditate. Often a block to doing this kind of thing (apart from finding the time) is figuring out how to get started. If you are interested in meditating, or more generally finding more balance in your day, I am taking that first barrier to you taking action away by hosting a meditation session every Wednesday.

So that’s it! Every Wednesday at 12:00 for a 12:05 start in Sr12 Life Sciences building, third floor.

Here's to Wednesdays!

Fabia

the beginning...

Hello and welcome to the start of mid-week meditation!

No matter what your job/role/path in life, you will know that finding time to look after your physical and mental self can be challenging to say the least. Too often we are consumed by our everyday tasks, worries and frustrations, and our priorities shift away from basic self care.

I am setting up this mid-week meditation site, and sit-down sessions in the School of Life Sciences, University of Liverpool, to try to provide space and time for a little mid-week reprieve and re-balancing.

The idea is simple: every Wednesday at 12:00 I have booked a space (SR12, Life Sciences bld.) for like-minded wellness seekers to meet and meditate. I will bring audio guided meditations of different styles each time for us to enjoy.

I hope this is of interest to you, and that you can drop in to give it a go.... this is new for me too ;)

To help me have an idea of numbers, please book yourself a place using EventBrite:

https://mwmeditation.eventbrite.com

I also hope to gather meditation resources and information on this blog, so watch this space.
